How to get here

EXTREMELY convenient from Gatwick Airport or from Heathrow via Central London; also from Europe via Eurostar train to Ashford with local direct train connection (or again via London). Direct trains from London Victoria Station AND FROM LONDON GATWICK AIRPORT every 30 minutes [Journey time from Gatwick around 45 minutes].

Guests arriving in London Heathrow Airport can take a direct bus to Gatwick Airport or travel into central London by ‘Underground’ train (Piccadilly Line) to Victoria with one change at South Kensington.

Passengers joining the train service at either London Victoria or Gatwick Airport need to be aware that their train usually runs as two connected portions, and that only one portion runs to Eastbourne. The destination indicator may show the train as running to ORE or EAST HASTINGS rather than to Eastbourne. It is important to travel in the correct portion of the train, since it will divide at HAYWARDS HEATH. At the time of writing this note, it is usually the FRONT four carriages (of an eight- or twelve-car train) which continue to EASTBOURNE. Eastbourne is a terminus station, so you cannot miss the stop!

Walking to the centre from the train station

A map showing the walking route from the station is shown here.

When leaving the station, bear to your left. Cross one road at the crossing, and take the next road (South Street, a shopping street with lots of bus stops) which has a sign to 'seafront'. At the end of this first stretch, bear right again into Devonshire Place, heading directly for the sea front. When you reach Grand Parade, which is alongside the sea, turn right (the Hotel Cavendish is on this corner for those staying there). The Eastbourne Centre is 100 metres further along Grand Parade.

Travel by Car

Delegates are strongly urged NOT to travel by car unless it is strictly necessary, as car parking in the area of the EASTBOURNE CENTRE is extremely limited. A special parking ticket (current price 50p for 24 hours) can be bought at the EASTBOURNE CENTRE upon arrival, which allows parking on-street, but some distance away from the CENTRE itself.

Anyone arriving by car should ask their hotel for discounted street parking tickets. These cost 50 pence for 24 hours and the hotel will explain how to use them.
