Scope of the Conference

Securing the safe and reliable operation of the UK's gas-cooled nuclear reactors (Magnox and Advanced Gas-cooled Reactors, AGR) requires continuous assessment of the condition of the graphite moderator cores as they age. The objective of this Conference is to review recent developments in the methodologies that are being used to assess the condition of the graphite cores and to consider related subjects such as plant modifications for safe operation, graphite decommissioning and the design of future reactor systems. The Conference aims to update and extend the themes addressed in a Conference on Management of Ageing Processes in Graphite Reactor Cores held in Cardiff in 2005.

The meeting will be held at the East Midlands Conference Centre, The University of Nottingham.
