Programme: The Conference Programme is now available! Both the summary, and the complete programme.

News: Oral abstract submission is now closed, but there are still a few places left at the conference and we are still accepting poster contributions.

NanoteC11 will be held at the Institute of Materials in the beautiful city of Nantes in the west of France, at the end of August. It will coincide with a large free jazz festival held annually in the city.

NanoteC is one of the longest running series of international nanoscale carbon conferences in Europe (since 1998). It brings together scientists working with nanoscale carbon materials: nanotubes, graphene, diamond- and fullerene-related nanostructures. While each of these materials attracts its own dedicated community of researchers, NanoteC draws on common themes and allows researchers to share insight into this unique element at the nanoscale.

Elemental carbon shows remarkable variety in properties via simple covalent bonding, however other systems (for example containing nitrogen or metals) are becoming important and provide alternative components with unique mechanical and electronic properties. Nanotechnology requires an understanding of these materials on an atomic level and this will be the central theme.

The NanoteC conferences are renowned for their relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with emphasis on discussion and participation. We endeavour to achieve as much student participation as possible, and we anticipate that the keynote talks will be strongly influential on the next generation of nanotechnology scientists. Contributed talks are also mainly attributed to young researchers. This year NanoteC11 will be held at the Institute of Materials in Nantes, with ~100 (maximum 130) participants from around the world, 12 sessions (non-parallel) with about 10 keynote and 30 contributed talks, as well as a poster session, with posters available for discussion throughout the conference.

The Poster prize and conference drinks reception are kindly sponsored by Solvay.

Timings

The conference begins at midday Wednesday 31st August 2011 and finishes midday Saturday 3rd September. Buffet lunch is available on the 31st and the 3rd. All lunches are included in registration fee, as well as dinner on August 31st and the Conference Dinner on September 1st (Dinner on September 2nd is not included).

Important Dates

Abstract Submission deadline: Passed, still possible to submit a poster though!

Early registration deadline: Friday 24th June

Conference:Wednesday August 31st - Saturday 3rd 2011

This year the meeting will be held in conjunction with workgroup meetings for the COST Project MP0901 "NanoTP", "Designing novel materials for nanodevices: From Theory to Practice".
